Terms of Service
Campus Communities
Effective Date: September 1, 2025 · Last Updated: May 6, 2026
By accessing, subscribing to, or using the Campus Communities website, Instagram pages, community feeds, group chats, messaging features, and all related services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) as currently published and as updated from time to time. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. About the Service
Campus Communities is operated by Campus Communities, a limited liability company. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms in full.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old. The Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 years of age or older. Campus Communities is not liable for any misrepresentation of age by a user.
- Be an incoming college student, current college student, or a person genuinely seeking to connect with college students.
- Provide accurate information during account creation and onboarding.
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements. Campus Communities reserves the right to require proof of age or eligibility at any time.
3. Account Registration
To access the full features of the Service, you must create an account using your email address. Accounts are created and accessed via email verification — a confirmation code is sent to your email address each time you log in. No password is required or stored. You agree to:
- Provide an accurate and valid email address during registration.
- Maintain access to the email address associated with your account. Loss of access to your email address may result in loss of access to your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at support@campuscommunities.us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Campus Communities reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information or that are used in violation of these Terms.
4. Paid Subscription & Payments
Access to the Service, including posting and community features, requires an active paid subscription.
All payments are processed securely via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method at the applicable subscription rate.
All subscription fees are non-refundable, including for mid-cycle cancellations, content removal, declined submissions, or dissatisfaction, except where required by applicable law. Campus Communities may, at its sole discretion, issue refunds in exceptional circumstances.
Cancellation stops future billing but does not grant a refund for the current billing period. Your access and active posts remain available until the end of the paid period.
Subscription fees may change with advance notice and will apply to future billing periods only.
Attempting to reverse a payment or submit a chargeback without a valid reason may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account.
Campus Communities is not responsible for issues with your payment provider, failed transactions, or processing delays. Liability related to payments is limited to the amount actually paid by you in the previous billing period.

5. Posts & User Content
While your subscription is active, you may submit posts to your school’s community feed and Instagram page. Each post may include photos, a personal introduction, your listed interests, and connection goals (such as finding a roommate or friends).
By submitting a post, you confirm that you own or have all necessary rights to the photos and content you submit, and that the content is accurate and truthful.
You grant Campus Communities a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to use, display, distribute, and promote your submitted content to operate and promote the Service, including cross-posting to Campus Communities-managed Instagram pages.
Your post will be published in two places: (1) the school-specific community feed on the Campus Communities website, and (2) the associated Instagram page for your school managed by Campus Communities.
Campus Communities reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to decline to publish or cross-post any submitted content that does not meet our content standards, quality guidelines, or community rules. A declined submission does not entitle the user to a refund.
Campus Communities does not guarantee any specific timeline for when your post will appear on Instagram. Instagram posting is performed manually and may be subject to delays. No refund or credit will be issued due to posting delays.
Campus Communities does not guarantee that your post will remain on Instagram indefinitely, as Instagram is a third-party platform subject to its own rules and policies.
We may remove or edit content at our discretion for any reason, including violations of these Terms or community guidelines, without notice or refund.
Upon cancellation or termination of your subscription, your post may be removed from the Campus Communities website feed. Removal from Instagram cannot be guaranteed and is subject to Instagram’s own policies.
6. Messaging, Group Chats & Community Features
The Service includes direct messaging between users, school-specific group chats, and community feeds. By using these features, you agree to:
- Use messaging and chat features only for lawful, respectful, and genuine connection purposes.
- Not send spam, unsolicited promotions, harassment, threats, explicit content, or any content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
- Not share personal contact information (phone numbers, addresses, financial details) in group chats or public-facing community spaces.
- Understand that group chats are shared spaces visible to other members of your school community on the platform.
Campus Communities is not responsible for the content of messages exchanged between users. However, we reserve the right to monitor, remove, or restrict communications that violate these Terms. Any in-app communications are subject to our Privacy Policy.
Campus Communities is a platform to help students discover and initiate connections. We do not guarantee that you will find a roommate, make friends, or achieve any specific social outcome through use of the Service.
7. Offline Meetings & Real-World Interactions
Campus Communities may facilitate connections that lead to in-person meetings. Campus Communities has no control over, and expressly disclaims all liability for, any interactions, meetings, or events that occur outside the platform. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Campus Communities is not responsible for the conduct, actions, or character of any user you meet through the platform.
- Any decision to meet another user in person is made entirely at your own risk. We strongly encourage users to exercise caution, meet in public places, and inform a trusted person when meeting someone for the first time.
- Campus Communities shall not be liable for any injury, loss, harm, or damages of any kind resulting from in-person interactions between users who connected through the Service.
8. Communications Consent
By creating an account and providing your email address and/or phone number, you consent to receive service-related communications from Campus Communities, including account notices, subscription updates, and policy changes.
From time to time, we may also send you promotional or marketing communications about Campus Communities features, new school communities, or offers. By providing your contact information, you consent to receive such communications. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting support@campuscommunities.us or using the unsubscribe link in any email. Opting out of marketing communications does not affect delivery of essential service notices.
Standard message and data rates may apply to any SMS communications. You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP.
9. Community Guidelines & Prohibited Uses
All users are expected to interact respectfully and authentically. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or discriminate against any other user on or off the platform.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, school affiliation, or class year.
- Post content that is false, misleading, explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful.
- Use the platform to solicit money, promote external businesses, or distribute spam or malware.
- Use information found on Campus Communities — including usernames, photos, school affiliations, or any profile details — to contact, locate, follow, or communicate with any user outside the platform in an unwanted or unsolicited manner.
- Attempt to scrape, harvest, or collect other users’ personal information for any unauthorized purpose.
- Use the Service in any way intended to facilitate real-world harm, stalking, exploitation, or any illegal activity.
Violations of these guidelines may result in immediate content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination without notice or refund. Campus Communities reserves the right to report conduct to law enforcement where appropriate.
10. No Affiliation with Universities, Instagram, or Meta
By using the Service, you acknowledge:
- Campus Communities and Campus Communities are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to any university, college, or educational institution referenced on the platform. School names and identifiers are used solely to indicate the student communities served and do not imply any official relationship.
- Campus Communities is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. The Campus Communities-managed Instagram pages are independently operated by Campus Communities.
- The Instagram pages operated by Campus Communities are owned and controlled solely by Campus Communities and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice or liability.
- Instagram is owned and operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. and governed by Meta’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Campus Communities has no control over Meta’s platform, policies, or decisions.
- Campus Communities is not responsible for any actions taken by Instagram or Meta, including content removal, account restrictions, or platform changes that affect the Service.
11. Intellectual Property
All branding, design, website structure, logos, and original content created by Campus Communities are the exclusive property of Campus Communities.
You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without prior written permission from Campus Communities.
You retain ownership of the original content you submit. Your license grant to us (Section 5) does not transfer ownership of your content.
12. Termination
Campus Communities may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.
You may cancel your subscription at any time via campuscommunities.us/subscription. Cancellation ends future billing but does not entitle you to a refund for the current period.
Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately. Sections 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 survive termination.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Campus Communities does not guarantee:
- Any specific social outcomes, including but not limited to finding a roommate, making friends, or receiving messages.
- Uninterrupted, error-free, or fully secure operation of the Service.
- That posts will be displayed on Instagram within any particular timeframe or for any particular duration.
- The accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of any user-submitted content.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Campus Communities’s total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the prior billing period.
- Campus Communities is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including loss of data, lost opportunities, emotional distress, or reputational harm.
- This limitation applies regardless of the form of action and whether Campus Communities was advised of the possibility of such damages.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Campus Communities and its owner, agents, and successors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your access to or use of the Service.
- Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law or regulation.
- Your content, including any claim that it infringes or violates the rights of any third party.
- Any harm caused by your interactions with other users on or off the platform.
16. No Agency or Employment Relationship
Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, employment, franchise, or agency relationship between you and Campus Communities. You have no authority to bind Campus Communities to any obligation, and Campus Communities is not responsible for your conduct, statements, or actions toward other users or third parties.
17. No Waiver
The failure of Campus Communities to enforce any right or provision of these Terms on any occasion shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision going forward. Campus Communities reserves the right to enforce any provision at any time, regardless of any prior failure to do so.
18. Force Majeure
Campus Communities is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure results from causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, internet or infrastructure outages, third-party platform changes or outages (including Instagram/Meta), government actions, or other circumstances outside Campus Communities’s reasonable control.
19. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You expressly waive any right to bring or participate in a class action lawsuit, class-wide arbitration, or any other representative proceeding.
20. Severability & Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Campus Communities regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, or understandings — whether written or oral — including any communications made via Instagram DM, email, or social media. No statement made outside of these Terms creates any binding obligation on Campus Communities.
21. Grandfathered Subscribers & Transition to Current Service
Prior to the current version of the Service, Campus Communities operated under a prior model in which subscribers signed up via a Stripe payment link and submitted content — including photos and a personal bio — directly to their school’s Campus Communities-managed Instagram page via direct message (“DM”). Content was then posted to that school’s Instagram page. No website, user account, or community features were part of that model (the “Prior Service Model”).
Users who subscribed under the Prior Service Model (“Grandfathered Subscribers”) are now being transitioned to the current Service. The following applies:
- Grandfathered Subscribers can access the Campus Communities website by logging in with the same email address associated with their original Stripe subscription. No new payment is required — their existing subscription carries over.
- The Prior Service Model — including Instagram DM-based content submission — is no longer supported or available. All subscribers, including Grandfathered Subscribers, must use the current website going forward.
- These Terms supersede and replace in their entirety all prior terms, agreements, and informal understandings, including any terms in effect during the Prior Service Model.
- Any legacy pricing explicitly communicated to a Grandfathered Subscriber at the time of their original subscription will be honored for as long as their subscription remains active and uninterrupted. Legacy pricing is forfeited upon voluntary cancellation, non-payment, or termination for any reason. Grandfathered Subscribers who cancel and later re-subscribe will be charged at the then-current rate.
- Grandfathered Subscribers are not entitled to any features, delivery methods, terms, or commitments associated with the Prior Service Model or any prior informal communications, regardless of how those communications were made.
- All data practices are governed by the current Privacy Policy, which applies to all users — past and present — going forward.
By maintaining an active subscription or continuing to use the Service after the Last Updated date of these Terms, a Grandfathered Subscriber accepts these Terms in full. If a Grandfathered Subscriber does not agree to these Terms, they must cancel their subscription via campuscommunities.us/subscription.
22. Modifications to Terms
Campus Communities may update these Terms at any time.
Material changes will be communicated via email or notice on the website or Instagram pages.
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
